Tomb of Daniel and Mosque

Tomb of Daniel is small social complex in Mersin(Tarsus).Two arches of a Roman bridge were found in the basement of the mosque-tomb complex during a renovation project.Daniel lived in the time II.King of Babylon Nebukadnesar.Daniel was rescue the jewry from Babylon Kingdom and he is one of Islam prophet,original name is Danyal.There was famine at Tarsus and people invited to Danyal,after he arrived the city abundance happened.That's the reason people don't let Daniel to go and he died in Tarsus.And Umar, Son of Al-Khattab conquered the city and he checked the tomb of Daniel.To protect the tomb,Umer made some system.They digged deep into the soil,put the tomb there and close and made a water channel from river Berdan.So noone can't touch the tomb or even can't reach for at that time.Finally in 2014 made excavation and found the tomb,took more up and made landscape by municipality.Today you can visit the tomb and the mosque,feel peaceful ambiance.Good place to visit.
